University of Wisconsin – Kemp Natural Resources Station
Communicating about Natural Resources Research, Instruction & Outreach
- Paid internship for the summer of 2025, for 12 weeks, May 22 – August 15, 30+ hrs/week, $16/hr; invaluable learning and networking opportunity in natural resources!

- Applicants must be enrolled in the Fall 2025 semester at their university.
- The student intern will be expected to be reliable and dependable and must be able to work independently. Experience or knowledge that is beneficial for this position include: writing and/or storytelling; photography; short video production, including editing.
- The student intern will be expected to develop a communications plan for the summer and develop a plan of work for them self to include field visits, attendance at Kemp outreach events, and office time to make social media posts, process media and complete writing assignments.
- The student intern will prepare posts and materials to help promote Kemp Station’s outreach events.
- The student intern will arrange and make field visits with a provided list of researchers conducting studies on several natural resource subjects, including, but not limited to, fisheries, forestry, and wildlife. The student intern will observe, ask questions, and learn about the study in order to write a short description about the study and their experience in the field for social media.
- The student intern will write an article for the station newsletter about the internship experience to appear in the fall issue of Kemp’s Point.
- This position offers a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with faculty and students from multiple universities and colleges, and natural resource professionals, and an opportunity to get hands-on experience with applied research.
- Kemp Natural Resources Station is in northern Wisconsin just south of Woodruff, WI. The student must have their own means of transportation, but will be provided with housing at Kemp Station. The student is responsible for their own meals. A student who is approved as a driver by the University will have access to a Kemp truck for field visits whenever possible.
