Field Day
Friday, July 17, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Scientists and students from a variety of schools and agencies call UW-Madison’s Kemp Natural Resources Station home while they conduct studies on the area’s forests and lakes. The public is invited to learn more about these studies during Kemp Station’s Field Day on Friday, July 17, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Come and learn about the secret lives of wildlife, how waterfowl is impacting wild rice, why we collect insects, and what freshwater mussels are up to – and that’s just some of what’s in store.  Visitors may explore the grounds and nature trail at Kemp Station or enjoy a short pontoon boat ride to view the Kemp Station shoreline. This is a free event, and registration is not required.

Scheduled tours and presentations during the field day:

1:15 pm – Take a pontoon boat ride to view the Kemp Station shoreline with Scott Craven, UW-Madison Professor Emeritus, Extension Wildlife Specialist

1:15 pm – Take a walking tour of the historic buildings at Kemp Station, with Gary Kellner, former caretaker at Kemp Station
